Star Ratings
The South East has maintained its position as one of the highest performing regions for performance of County and Unitary Councils, with 17 of the 19 authorities achieving 3 or 4 stars; the remaining 2 are 2 star authorities.
Direction of travel
- 6 authorities have improved their direction of travel
- 9 have maintained their direction of travel
- 3 (Milton Keynes, Slough and Wokingham) have reduced their rating from improving well to improving adequately
- West Sussex direction of travel is under review
Use of Resource
- Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes have had their Use of Resources score reduced from 3 to 2 overall
- East Sussex and Slough have improved their Use of Resources Score from 3 to 4, and 2 to 3 respectively
- All other authorities have maintained their 2006 score
Bracknell Forest was one of only two councils in the country to improve both its star category and direction of travel since 2006 to become top performing for both elements. Milton Keynes has seen the biggest decline with scores dropping on star rating, use of resources, housing, planning and culture.
