The Rehabilitate and Resettle strand focuses on those
PPOs who are already in custody or serving setences in the community.
CDRPs work with the same partner agencies including Police, Probation,
Prisons and Criminal Justice Interventions' Team (CJIT) to ensure that
actions are in place in order to prioritise PPOs and that, through a single
offender manager, they are case-managed at all stages of their
sentence.
Under this strand each PPO aged 18 and over, who is subject to a community
or custodial sentence, will receive an assessment. This will identify
the likelihood of re-offending, their risk of serious harm, the needs
relating to their offending and the interventions required to rehbilitate
them. Individual case management, along with appropriate
interventions, will ensure PPOs are offered the maximum support to become
non-offending and productive members of society.
Our Role
The Government Office for the South East Community
Safety Team supports and advises South East regional crime and drugs
partnerships and their partner agencies in the development and
implementation of the Rehabilitate and Resettle strand of the PPO
Strategy. We ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place
and the refinement of scheme performance for the identification and sharing
of best practice.
Re-offending Action Plans
In parallel, Regional Offender Managers (ROMs) have
developed and implemented regional reducing re-offending actions plans,
based on the regional profiles and needs of offenders. These plans
focus on resettlement pathways that are critical to reducing the risk of
re-offeding, namely:
-
Education
-
Training
-
Employment
-
Accommodation
-
Mental and physical health
-
Benefit and debt advice
-
Drugs and alcohol treatment
-
Families and children's services
-
Attitudes and self control
Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) and
their partner agencies develop their own local rehabilitation action plans
to support the needs of PPOs in their areas.
